Happy New Year everyone!! 🎉 We are indeed happy to move out of 2021! Last year presented the dedicated leadership with what seemed like insurmountable challenges but we worked through each one together with grace and humour!
Despite these challenging times and in the shadow of the pandemic we continue to have good news to share. We ended 2021 with a much awaited interim occupancy permit for our new centre. That means we can finally start moving in. We will require a full occupancy permit before children can start attending but this is a huge move forward. We have our new team hired and we can begin their orientation and training process on site. We can move out all the furniture and supplies we have been storing from both centres, the Y and my basement!! Michelle can finally give the families of our 92 children some hope that they will soon be opening! Then the hard work for leadership begins!!
Thankfully we are blessed with a wonderful group of highly organized and efficient people! Ready set GO!!!
Our team of educators provided the children and families with amazing curriculum, fantastic activities and most importantly loving care. If you follow us on Facebook you will see some of the evidence of this love and educational care. We enjoy this with the children and families of Splash! We embrace diversity and believe in inclusivity, that our mission and values support. We work diligently to support families of children with inclusion needs and team up with agencies and networks to help provide a safe, inclusive environment for all children.
Thankfully, we have been blessed with a wonderfully supportive board. The new members, who joined in October are already fitting in and are clearly emulating out mission and values. We had our first in person meeting at the boardroom we share with Oak Table Inc. at the new centre.
It is safe to say that it has been a tough year for our board who have been faced with many hard decisions to make to keep us all safe and to keep Splash financially viable.
Moving into 2022 we will be actively supporting our teams in providing you with excellence in care and early childhood education. We will continue to connect with our communities to help strengthen them. And, of course, stay connected with our Knowledge Keeper and Elders on the land on which we gather through our ecological, nature based curriculum and Forest School. We will accomplish all of this no matter the challenges because WE CARE! We are so happy you chose Splash and share your children with us.

Respectfully,
Lesley Massey
